Dear Diary: Lyme Disease, Fall Activities, & an ENGAGEMENT!

Dear Diary,

Where do I even start? It’s been almost a month since my last published diary log. I have so many things to share and don’t even know where to begin. Why do I hear a Julie Andrews sing-along happening in the back of my mind? Anyone? OMG – please pretend you get my Do Re Mi reference. Anyways, here we go.

Lyme Journey

Last month I had the privileges’ of partnering with some pretty amazing companies and brands. So many groups continue to go out of their way, every single day, to bring light to necessary change. Two men from the Sawyer Products team set up an amazing collaboration to feature education on Lyme Disease. It’s not something I chat about often, but a conversation that should be normalized.

As I sat down to map out an outline, it clicked in my head that this might be the time to share all sides to life with Lyme. Everyone seems to know surface details only. For starters, the bullseye rash is a symptom everyone knows. Secondly, everyone knows that ticks mainly come from Deer and live in tall grassy areas. (Two very important things to be mindful of and look out for while enjoying your favorite fall activities!)

What people don’t know is the mind and body altering side to Lyme Disease that can throw your life off track in a moments notice.

Andrew & Travis, from the Sawyer team, helped open my eyes to working through ten years of repressed emotion. Without them, I’m not sure I would have been brave enough to put these words on paper; to fight for my life & share my journey. I owe them a huge thank you, along with enough gratitude and love to last a lifetime.

Apple Picking & Farm Days

My little crew spent a few weekends enjoying fall activities and exploring our local orchards – soaking in everything apple! I’m talking warm apple cider, homemade apple cider donuts, and my favorite – apple cider slushies! Yes, it’s a thing.

We did our best attempt at social distancing, while staying clean, safe, and aware of our surroundings.

It’s been a little treat, here and there, not completely giving up all of our favorite fall activities. Obviously, the health and safety of ourselves and others is the priority – but it’s nice that we are able to educate ourselves and enjoy tiny bits of fall excitement.

Reading Update

September is always one of my favorite reading months. It’s time to dust off some of my favorite classics, and start billowing through them as fall and winter approach. They don’t call it spooky season for nothing, right?

Anyways, I am in the midst of reading more of my favorite “A Bakeshop Mystery” series by: Ellie Alexander. I am about half way thought this series and can’t wait for Ellie to continue to expand on this and her Sloan Krause series.

Anne of Green Gables is finally on deck and ready to be devoured. I’m sure this will become my next obsession if it really is as fab as everyone says. You’ve been warned!

My current audiobook selections are: Midnight Sun by: Stephanie Meyer & Pulp Friction by: Julie Ann Lindsay. Honestly, Midnight Sun started dragging a big, which caused my jump to start a new cozy mystery; which I’m loving – by the way!

I even have another cozy mystery on deck; Witches and Wedding Cake by: Bailey Cates.

If cozy mysteries aren’t your thing, check out this blog post with three fantastic contemporary & romance novels that were reviewed by one of my favorite Bookstagrammers, Kelly Wuyscik.

Sister’s Engagement!

On September 20, 2020 – I had the pleasure of being part of my baby sister’s surprise engagement. Her, now, fiancé included me in the planning process and I couldn’t have been more touched.

We spent the day hiking in Harper’s Ferry, West Virginia, one of my favorite fall activities, might I add! The coolest part of this spot is the fact that it’s where Maryland, West Virginia, and Virginia meet – super rich in history and just overall very cool.

What wasn’t so cool was the pain that came after the twelve mile hike to the top of the most beautiful overlook where the proposal took place.

My heart is so full. It was then and it is now, as I sit here to jot down these memories.

In Conclusion:

September was an abundant month. It was filled with high highs and some low lows. Overall, the amount of love that was spread in this month of September was enough to wash a few un-noteworthy troubles away.

As October sweeps in, please prioritize the importance of this upcoming election. Getting a chance to vote, make a difference, and have your voice be heard, is more important NOW than ever.

Wishing everyone a very happy October!
