S’mores Galore: Tips and Tricks on How to Make the Perfect S’more

I know what you’re all thinking. How could anyone possibly give me a tip or trick on making one of the most basic and delicious treats? Well think again, because I have something new to share that will teach you EXACTLY how to make a perfect S’more!

Now I’m not trying to diminish the O.G. S’more: Hershey’s chocolate, marshmallow, and graham crackers – I’m just going to give you a few little tips and recipes on how to spice up that, already yummy, treat.

Before we get into a few new recipes, I have some very important facts to share with you!

Fun fact! Did you know not all marshmallows have to be cooked over a campfire?

Marshmallow Cooking Styles:

  1. Camp Fire – the obvious choice. This will forever live on my lifelong summer bucket list.
  2. Gas Stove-top
  3. Cooking Torch – for all my fancy gourmet foodies out there
  4. Broiler

I don’t expect your mind to be blown yet. In addition to a few new marshmallow cooking styles, you’re going to need the basic tools to get the party started.

S’mores Making BASICS

  1. Fire – Now, I know we went over this in the last section. To me, the whole point of making a s’more and fun comes from sitting around the campfire with friends and family. Yes, you can absolutely broil a marshmallow or ever torch one with a handheld device; but what is better than sitting outside on a summer or fall night with your loved ones, reminiscing with an open fire and good company?
  2. Family & Friends – need I say more?
  3. Sticks – an absolute MUST for the perfect s’more making situations.
  4. CHOCOLATE
  5. MARSHMALLOWS
  6. GRAHAM CRACKERS
  7. Fire Extinguisher – hopefully NOT needed, but it’s always better to be safe than sorry! YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!

Okay, we’ve gotten the basics out of the way. Now that you know all of the marshmallow cooking ways and tools necessary to make the perfect s’more, let’s get to the recipes. One step closer to eating your delicious treat!

THE ORIGINAL:

Firstly, the OG S’more rocks. I won’t deny that. I don’t even have to write the ingredients or recipe out because, unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know the BIG THREE of S’more making. Chocolate, Marshmallow, and Graham Crackers make up the basic and original s’more.

My Favorite S’more Recipe:

Calling all peanut butter lovers, this one is for you! My go-to s’more recipe includes a Reeses peanut butter cup instead of a basic piece of Hershey’s chocolate. LIFE CHANGING!

Moreover, replacing the chocolate square for a peanut butter cup gives you the best of both worlds. You don’t have to forgo the trash chocolatey portion of this snack. What you do is increase its flavor by adding the secret ingredient of peanut butter.

Have I mentioned yet that the marshmallow has to be charred? Oh, YES! Picture it now; an extra toasty marshmallow and Reeses cup in between two crispy graham crackers. The melty marshmallow giving heat and warmth to the peanut butter cup – YES, please. Sign me up! I can picture the ooey, gooey treat as I type this.

Anyways, if you are a peanut butter lover, this is the treat for you. Add this to your Summer 2020 Bucket List; you won’t be sorry!

Candy Bar Alternatives:

  1. Butterfinger
  2. Twix
  3. Snickers
  4. Crunch Bar
  5. Kit Kat
  6. Peppermint Patties
  7. Mounds
  8. Milky Way
  9. Oreos

New Recipes to Try:

Salted Caramel S’mores: Drizzle homemade caramel on top of the original s’more recipe turning into a salty treat for all my caramel lovers out there!

Caramel Apple S’more: Clearly I have caramel on the mind now. Have you ever thought of replacing the chocolate bar for a slice or two of Honeycrisp or Granny Smith apples? Add that to your toasted marshmallow and finish with a drizzle of your homemade caramel sauce for a unique take on the delicious treat.

Toasted Coconut S’more: Replace the caramel drizzle for a handful of fresh coconut shavings. SIGN ME UP! This can only increase the flavor of the original S’more; bringing life to this basic treat.

Oreo S’more: I’ll be honest, Pinterest gave me this idea. Try replacing the graham crackers with Oreos. That sounds like an over the top decadent treat, but why not give it a try? Maybe I’ll test this one out on our next camping trip. Review to come!!!

Rice Crispy Treat S’more: Here’s another graham cracker replacement recipe that I haven’t tried yet. This ultra messy idea has you replacing the graham cracker, once again, for a small square of a rice crispy treat. I will say, S’mores in general are already messy. This idea seems like a whole different kind of ooey, gooey mess. Are you up for the challenge? Who knows; it could be life changing!

In conclusion, I’m sure there are millions of S’more concoctions out there. Will I try them all in this lifetime? Definitely not. But, I am willing to give these few delicious sounding ideas a try.
