My Favorite Campfire Cooking Recipes

Who doesn’t love a good campfire meal? One of my favorite parts of camping is campfire cooking. Sitting around the fire, cooking some yummy grub, and enjoying the company of my loved ones has its own way of bringing people together. Something about the smell of fresh air, wood burning, and good conversation makes me the happiest version of myself.

Here are a few of my all time favorite campfire cooking recipes.

Chickpea Breakfast Hash with Summer Veggies

I’m not sure what part of this heading/title makes me more excited. Two of my favorite things, in the whole wide world, are summer veggies and chickpeas. I could honestly forgo the egg portion of this meal and just go straight for a veggie and chickpea hash. OMG YUM!

Anyways, Chickpea Breakfast Hash is HANDS DOWN one of my all time favorite breakfast meals after a night of sleeping in the great outdoors.

Bacon, Egg, & Cheese Breakfast Burrito

Calling all burrito lovers – this baby is for you! I mean, a tortilla, bacon, eggs, cheese, and veggies; yes please.

If you’re feeling a little funky, you can add potatoes, peppers, onions, and a dab or two of sour cream – depending on your cooler situation. I always bring along extra ingredients and ice them down, in case a meal needs a little extra something. If you are hiking in the back country for multiple days, obviously something like this isn’t going to work. This campfire cooking recipe is a fan favorite for a night or two away when an iced cooler is accessible.

Vegan Orange Peel Campfire Cinnamon Rolls

Vegan or not, who would pass up a cinnamon roll? Seriously, sign me up! It’s always good to have options, depending on you or your company’s dietary restrictions. Sticking with something like vegan cinnamon rolls is the perfect meet-in-the-middle option; if you ask me!

Apple & Bacon Grilled Cheese

Good thing I’m not hungry while writing this, because each meal option is just sounding more and more delicious. Just thinking of this amazing campfire cooking recipe for apple & bacon grilled cheese is seriously making my mouth water.

A meal like this doesn’t even need a description. Each yummy ingredient is in the title making for a running imagination and salivating mouth.

Steak & Veggie Kabobs

Steak & Veggie Kabobs are obviously NOT vegan friendly. Sorry to all my vegans out there, but a steak and veggie kabob makes me a full on meat eater. This is a meal I just can’t pass up – no matter what! Like I mentioned earlier, summer veggies are my weakness. Summer veggies plus a nice, fresh cut of meat makes my meat-eating heart swoon.

One of Jeff’s routine stops, before a camping trip, is our local butcher. It’s always our last stop before we hit the road. This ensures us that we have the most fresh cut piece of meat imaginable. Maybe it’s a chef thing? Either way, I don’t hate this pit stop.

Dutch Oven Corn Bread

Sides are a huge staple in rounding out a yummy campfire meal. Luckily for us, Maryland is known for its sweet summer corn. It’s a must have when hitting the road for a weekend of camping.

A part from the obvious sides of corn, watermelon, fresh summer salad – CORN BREAD is a must have side!

This is one of the main reasons it’s worth investing in a quality dutch oven/skillet. Plus, being able to whip up a homemade corn bread can make any campfire meal ten times better.

Reeces Cup S’more

Calling all peanut butter lovers, this one is for you! My go-to s’more recipe includes a Reese’s peanut butter cup instead of a basic piece of Hershey’s chocolate. LIFE CHANGING!

Replacing the chocolate square for a peanut butter cup gives you the best of both worlds. Picture it now; an extra toasty marshmallow and Reese’s cup in between two crispy graham crackers. The melty marshmallow giving heat and warmth to the peanut butter cup – YES, please!

Anyways, if you are a peanut butter lover, this is the treat for you. Add this to your Fall 2020 Bucket List; you won’t be sorry!

That’s a wrap – hardly.

These are just seven of my favorite campfire cooking recipes. Stay tuned for part two of my all time favorite campfire meals. Jeff and I are working on some brand new recipes and constantly trying out new things to share with you!

Like always, if you have a MUST EAT campfire meal, I would love to hear your recommendations. Feel free to DM me and share!
